Daniel Jackson

Daniel Jackson is a rising star in the fashion photography industry. Shooting for magazines such as Vogue, Dazed and Confused and I.D he graduated from Chelsea College of Art with a degree in sculpture and went onto form a career in photography. He started his career as a freelance photographic assistant and studio manager working with David Sims. Having been shooting his own images over the last two years he is certainly one to watch. I don't think I could have been more excited when I discovered he went to my university, might try and hunt him down...bit of stalking might have to be involved..

LOVE this photo shoot. Love, love, love the photographer Javier Vallhonrat. I have been looking at this particular photographer for inspiration for an Art Direction project I'm working on in relation to Louise Goldin.

The futuristic background and soft lighting really make the colours of the garments to pop which so easily could have looked washed out against the pastel walls.

A Single Man

I went to see A Single Man for the first time last night and I was utterly blown away. It has to be one of the most beautifully shot films I have seen in a long time. The visually stunning manner in which it was shot captivated me until the very end. Each scene was considered to perfection. The touching relationships highlighted in the film had my face set into a disconcertingly sad frown, that I'm sure if seen by anyone else would think I was related to Firth. And talking of perfection were the clothes and styling. Produced by Tom Ford expectations were rightfully set high, and they didn't fail to disappoint. Everything about the film was slick and elegant, including the clothes and score. The protagonist, Colin Firth, was the most impeccably dressed I have ever seen him and his performance was undeniably outstanding.





The story depicts a man torn apart by the loss of his partner, quietly grieving in solitude. Surrounded by a grey world he struggles to see the warmth in life, only at first brought to him by memories of his loved one, which leave him more torn apart than before. It is a journey of self discovery and progression to find the light in life once more. The dreamy element in which it is shot, perfection almost to the point of appearing like a 100 minute ad, combined with Colin Firth's flawless performance has created this stunning film. See it whilst in cinemas, you won't forget it.

Louise Goldin- Spring/Summer 2010

Recently I have been looking a lot at Louise Goldin- the new up-and-coming British designer to watch.
Re-defining the limitations of knitwear and re-appropriating it for the modern age her clothes are futuristic yet feminine. Elements of architectural structure and layering are a big part of her design. Louise Goldin graduated in 2005 from Central St Martins with a distinction in fashion knitwear. Selfridges then exclusively ordered her entire graduate collection.
By pushing the boundaries of knitwear and taking risks by mixing different materials she has achieved a strong collection of futuristic armour like clothes perfect for the warrior woman.

As Louise puts it 'Never be afraid. Be brave.'

I couldn't begin my fashion/ visual arts blog without paying tribute to one of the world's most inspiring designers; Lee Alexander McQueen. His creative genius has altered the fashion world forever. Combining a mixture of design, technology and performance he created unforgettable fashion shows that will continue to leave their mark. As one of Britain's most influential designers he will never be forgotten.
