Child of a Jago

More of my photography, just a little experimentation for CSM with the lovely Tilly.

RARE press preview a/w 10

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be invited along with the likes of Elle, MTV and Company magazine to Rare's press preview. I headed along to Soho House with my lovely friend Catherine to check out their new a/w 10 range.

I was greeted by a gorgeous collection of clothes and, to my delight, mojitos. Best mojitos EVER by the way. As I sipped my drink I strolled around the new collection, checking out luscious array of new dresses. They have also launched their own footwear range. My favourite had to be the petrol blue military boots. The subtle angular structure of the heel mixed with the smooth silky finish was stunning.

Although the dresses weren't to my particular taste, I loved the mix of frills and sequins.
My favourite garment had to be the gold sequined body suit, reminded me of something akin to a superhero... a stylish superhero.

To finish the night off I was given an amazing gift bag, complete with one of their dresses, myface make-up and pieces from accessorize!

Mojitos, gifts and new clothes, definitely the successful combination for a great night.

JEZEBEL

On Friday night I was lucky enough to be invited along to the Jezebel loft party in London. Jezebel is the new clothing line by Jade Jagger. It's a fusion between fashion and music, planning parties around the world in amazing venues with original djs. Launched in spring 2008 it's been picking up increasing media attention. Her diffusion line is now stocked at Harvey Nichols and other stores in 18 different countries.

Overall it was a pretty crazy party. The music was incredible with DJ sets from D.R.W and Damon Martin. Massive loft rooms in what I think was a converted warehouse spread out over 4 floors made finding bewildered lost friends an absolute mission. Ridiculously steep staircases in 6 inch heels combined with too much alcohol bordered on suicidal. Was a really great night. Spotted Jade Jagger at various points of the evening looking stunning amidst the crowd of sweaty ravers.

Wool House

My lack of posting in the last moth has been disastrous. There is no excuse. So I'm going to go ahead and excuse myself anyway. Finishing off my coursework and the impossible task of finding an amazing, non-excouncil flat, on a teeny weeny itsy bitsy budget has proved challenging. But it's done. Coursework- over, amazingwarehouseconversion- found. So my life can carry on. Finally.

VOLT

I was going to wait till I actually managed to get my own hands on a copy, but I can't wait any longer. Somewhere in the royal mail system my glorious magazine is floating around lost, perhaps never to be seen again. I may cry.

VOLT is officially my new favourite magazine. Firstly it is rather an odd size. Lusciously large- too ambitious to carry around and, moreover, simply too gorgeous. Each page is a work of art. Published biannually, its edgy innovative design is breathtaking. Cutting-edge and directional it's purely stunning.

New Look Press Preview AW 10

The other day I was fortunate enough to be asked to preview New Looks AW 2010 collection. So I headed along to have a sneaky peak at what's going to be hitting the shops later this year.

This is the first event I was lucky enough to be asked to and I couldn't wait to check out all the gorgeous new clothes. To be honest I haven't really shopped at New Look since I moved to London but I do love their shoe range. I have a massive weakness for shoes. Luckily this little indulgence is made far easier on the wallet by their affordable range.

Lace up boots continue to make an appearance from last year through to Autumn Winter. New Look have an amazing range of these faux suede lace up boots. I can't wait to get a hands on a pair! (I seem to be grinding my current pair down into a mess of mangled leather and rubber). I used to love their shoes then they seemed to go through a bit of a dry spell with their designs, but it looks like they are back on track for AW 10.

However what I did think was a bit odd was that some of their shoes bore a striking to a pair of my own. I bought them in January from Urban Outfitters. Now, I have become weirdly loyal to this shoe range they sell at Urban, I love them. They are unique. So it was strangely annoying that I saw an almost identical pair. I don't really know what to make of this, maybe they have a similar supplier/ designer?
Above my 'crepe high heeled hiking boots' from Urban Outfitters.
The collection flows around soft pastels, with a decidedly snowy feel. Embellishment is back, but this time covers the pale pastel shades instead of the harsh blacks of the previous year.

This cute faux sheepskin jacket caught my eye, I've wanted one for forever. Last winter however there wasn't much on the highstreet. (Got my hands on one eventually from Uniqlo. Warmest. Thing. Ever.)

I particularly loved their underwear collection, the lush combination of velvet and lace looked gorgeous. The blue powder velvet piece above has to be my favorite from the collection. The accessories were incredibly cute, with silk flowers and velvet bags. Overall I was actually really pleasantly surprised with the collection, the mix of velvet, silk and faux sheepskin created a luxurious fresh feel to the New Look AW.
